The Program

Our Young Potential Program provides structured and intensive training for young graduates with relevant backgrounds, focusing on developing specific competencies essential for success in your future career. Over a 12-month period, you will rotate through various departments within the organization (Site Management, Project Management, and Estimating), allowing you to acquire a broad range of knowledge and experience. At the end of the program, we will work with you to determine your career path and decide which division you will begin your career in.

For who?

  • Recent (or soon-to-be) graduates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Proficient in Dutch.

The divisions

Over a 12-month period, you will gain experience in three divisions: Site Management, Work Preparation (Project Management), and Estimating. Subsequently, in consultation, the fourth period will be determined. This can either be an in-depth exploration of one of the previously mentioned departments or another department such as Cost Controlling, Purchasing, Contract Management, Finance, etc.

Site Management

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience on the construction site, learning to collaborate with various teams, create effective schedules, and receive training in safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment. Additionally, responsibilities include placing orders and efficiently planning materials. Insight into site organization and optimizing schedules will also be developed. Furthermore, you will learn how to set up the site efficiently to enhance workflow.

Project Management

You will delve into every aspect of work preparation in this role. You will participate in site meetings and track negotiations with architects and engineers. Learning to effectively identify and manage follow-up points while proactively suggesting optimizations and alternatives is a key part of the position. Additionally, responsibilities include sending out price requests, building an As Built dossier, and preparing progress reports. You will also develop skills in budget negotiations, learn to negotiate with subcontractors, and gain insights into contract discussions.

Estimating

Accurately estimating project costs is at the heart of this role. You will learn to read and understand specifications, interpret construction plans, and gain insight into building structures. Your responsibilities will also include taking measurements and developing a 3D understanding. Additionally, you will attend meetings to observe the process and learn how to calculate and defend cost estimates. Writing and justifying pricing proposals is also a key part of this position.
